Reservoir Books grew gradually from a lifelong fascination with books as physical objects — not only for the ideas they contain, but for the histories they carry through time.

From childhood reading and collecting, through more than twenty-five years working in medicine, books remained a constant intellectual refuge: literature, philosophy, exploration, science, theology and the history of civilisation. Over time, that private habit of reading slowly evolved into a deeper interest in the material life of books themselves — their bindings, provenance, typography, marginalia and survival across centuries.

The collection reflects this continuing process of discovery. Particular interests include Renaissance and Enlightenment thought, voyages of exploration, scientific and medical history, eighteenth-century literature, and works that preserve the movement of ideas between cultures and eras.

Each item is individually researched, photographed and described with an emphasis on historical context, bibliographical accuracy and long-term collectability.
